Copra #6 is now available! This is the second part of our Tokyo adventure, the brutal climax to the crew’s main mission: stop Vitas. Call it a boiling point, call it endgame, call it a reason for me to draw a lot of broken glass, but this concludes the first Copra story arc with a bang.
Plenty of stories lined up, though, I have characters to introduce and established ones to explore: more comics in 24 page color bursts every month or so. For now, I’m very happy with the way this first arc turned out and I can only hope you feel the same.

here is another Valiant Fem Fatal from the days of Valiant`s Hay day .
The on Again Off Again Love Interest of Shadowman and Brother to his Nemesis Master Darque . A romance that was doomed from the start but that`s what made the original Run Special in my personal Opinion in between Shadowman`s epic battles with the supernatural and his own Dark Nature at the time in the original series . anyways here in this Pin -Up I was going for a Madonna Vibe with her Dress and Body Language . I wanted her to be a little Aloof but still carry a mysterious Dark Drunken Edge to her , I was listing to a lot of Old Madonna Music and Amy Winehouse namely her First Album Frank [ a personal favorite of mine ] all in all Enjoy this wonderful Piece of Fan Art Ladies and Gents . got a little behind on my Sailor Moon drawings, but finally finished Sailor Venus!
Sailor Venus is a very interesting senshi, and character in general, in that she has a glamorous life as a crime fighter on her own before joining the other senshi. Minako worked on her own as Sailor V, a mysterious, masked (and school uniform-wearing) super heroine, with movies, manga, toys and even video games based on her. Usagi appears to be a big Sailor V fan, gushing about the newest Sailor V products, and often seen trying to beat the Sailor V video game at the arcade Motoki works at. despite this, the other senshi don’t seem overly star-struck upon meeting Venus and discovering her former identity, and although they wonder about the possibility of her being their princess, she soon settles in and is goofing off with the rest of the inner senshi.
Minako’s personality is very similar to Usagi’s: she’s pretty irresponsible and likes to goof off rather than apply herself in school, making her and Usagi have to take make up tests together a lot. she enjoys manga, video games, and snacking (though not as much as Usagi), but she seems to have her fingers on the pulse of current pop culture and trends much more than any of the other senshi. this is probably because Minako is ambitious about her dream to become an idol, so she’s constantly checking out who’s hot at the moment. sometimes Minako’s ambition can get the best of her, and make her seem like a social climber who is constantly trying to ingratiate herself to famous people. she’s a bit clumsy and bad at cooking, again like Usagi, but unlike Usagi who gives up and cries about her failures, Minako almost always maintains a determined and can-do attitude; in fact, it almost seems failure is a strong motivator for her to try even harder. She often quotes proverbs or sayings to motivate herself or others, but always remembers them incorrectly, charmingly illustrating her never giving up despite messing up quite frequently.
one thing Minako excels at while exhibiting grace and dexterity is volley ball. there is a slightly melancholy side to Minako in that she had to give up being a volley ball champion, and a potential romance with one of her fellow players, in order to dedicate herself to being Sailor V, and later, Sailor Venus. she learns to still enjoy volley ball as a hobby, and i tried to incorporate that aspect into her design. my Sailor Venus is wiry and athletic, perhaps a bit tan from playing outside, and somehow i think freckles suit her.

Copra Pressis proud to announce that we have teamed up with Bergen Street Comics Press to present the Copra Compendium! I couldn’t be more excited about combining forces with Brooklyn’s own Bergen Street Comics in this new publishing venture.
The Copra Compendium [BSC001] collects the first three issues of the new nearly sold out action series, 72 full color pages with a couple of new bits of extra art. It’s the perfect jumping on point and a good chunk of comics in one solid package. It will be making its official debut at this year’s MoCCA on April 6th & 7th, so make sure to visit Bergen Street Comics at Table F179 and Copra Press (Kat & myself) at Table F178.

This was really a terrific debut issue. If you like SAGA, if you liked Y THE LAST MAN, if you liked RUNAWAYS or EX MACHINA, you should really give it a try.
It’s good comics by good creators, involving, compelling and entertaining. And you get to pick how much to pay for it. Entirely your choice. How much do you think a new #1 from Brian K. Vaughan and Marcos Martin is worth?
[Me, I paid $3. I almost paid $2.99, and then I thought, “Why would I pick a price ending in .99 when I’m the one setting the price? It’s a marketing trick. If I want to pay three bucks, make it three bucks!” So I did. You can make it 99 cents. Or less. Or more. You can make it $2.47, or $6.13. Your choice. But I gotta wonder, how many people picked a price ending in .99 just because they went there even when they set the price?]

my Sailor Mars.
i love each and every sailor senshi for different reasons, because fortunately they’re all richly and beautifully written with more complex personalities than is usually seen in anime. i love Rei/Sailor Mars’ tenacity and fiery passion. her greatest strengths, her unabashed determination to achieve what she wants and driven-ness, are exactly Sailor Moon’s weaknesses. likewise, Sailor Moon’s greatest strengths, her empathy, sweetness, and ability to relate to those around her, are Sailor Mars’ weak spots. so it makes sense that they have such an antagonistic relationship with one another, especially given Rei’s temper and Usagi’s childishness.
i realize i didn’t change up the original design much this time, and that’s because i really like Sailor Mars’ design and feel it fits her personality really well. one thing i find fascinating about Mars is that she could easily be an exploitative character, but instead she is always in control of herself. what i mean by that is that she’s probably the most stereotypically “sexy” of the inner senshi. she has beautiful long black hair, often dresses in more “adult” style fashions than the other girls, stuff that’s form-fitting or shows a lot of skin (not to mention she’s the only senshi who wears classic high-heel pumps when she transforms!), she goes to a Catholic school and therefore wears the much fetishized uniform, and she also happens to be a Miko (shrine maiden) at her grandfather’s shrine, which i’ve recently learned is another type of uniform that is fetishized. but rather than be a fan service character, Rei is always in control of how she is represented. she has a trendy and mature fashion sense because it is her personal preference, and because she has big dreams of being a singer/pop idol, not because a male gaze is directing her. she is a young woman testing out and expressing her budding sexuality, but is definitely not being sexualized in the process. i can’t tell you how great i think that is.
i also like the spiritual side of Rei, with her ability to foresee the future, her slight psychic abilities, and her use of spirit-warding talismans to help the other senshi, which sadly gets less and less prevalent as the series goes on.
